I don’t know about you, but I’m fascinated with the brain and all of its intricacies and complexities and yet how easily we take its capabilities and functionality for granted! Your brain is the computer that runs your entire body, so you want to be sure to take good care of it on a daily basis. If you want to be more intentional about giving your brain some TLC so that it can go the distance, here are some easy, applicable tips you can begin to implement:

  1. Before you go to do anything, say anything, or eat or drink anything,  just ask yourself:  Is this going to be good for my brain or bad for it?
  2. Eliminate sugars and unhealthy fats from your diet as much as possible.
  3. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy fats such as olive oil, walnuts, almonds, seeds, eggs, salmon, sardines avocado, and drink plenty of water daily.
  4. Take Omega 3 Fatty Acid Fish Oil
  5. Spend 5 minutes a day learning something new!  It could be a language app, a new instrument, a new sport, a new dance step – New learning keeps your brain young! Card games and board games also help to fire up your brain and keep it sharp.
  6. Whenever you feel sad or mad or nervous or out of control, write down what you’re thinking and just ask yourself if it’s true.  Questioning your own thoughts can make a huge difference in preventing you from reacting erratically; you can then respond calmly and logically to the situation.                                           
  7. Unplug and disconnect from everything at least an hour prior to bedtime, and get a good night’s sleep!
