In a recent book I read called, “Switch on Your Brain”, Dr. Caroline Leaf stated that “Our mind is designed to control the body, of which the brain is a part, not the other way around. Matter does not control us; we control matter through our thinking and choosing. We cannot control the events and circumstances of life, but we can control our reactions.” So basically it’s the quality of our thinking, our choices, and our reactions that determines the architecture of our brain, which inevitably determines the overall health of our minds and bodies.
Since we inherently gravitate towards negative or worrisome thinking, and then those thoughts lead to our actions, we need to give this more careful consideration. Remember, you are in charge of what you “choose” to think about. This in turn affects how your brain receives and responds to this information, which will then impact the outcome of what you choose. Those outcomes then contribute to your future.
So the next time you find yourself in a negative frame of mind, try this: capture the negative thought, replace it with a more realistic, helpful point of view, and then lean towards actions that will deliver a more positive solution or outcome.
