Did you know that “multi-tasking” is a bit of a misnomer?! Only about 7% of the population can truly multi-task with success. Highly driven people are under the false notion that multitasking is a great way to accomplish multiple tasks all at once.
However, when you attempt multiple things at once, you could be setting yourself up for these traps: (1) your ability to think clearly tends to decline (2) your accuracy drops (3)you focus on what’s urgent instead of what’s important (4)you forget things more easily (5) the quality and efficiency of your next task deteriorates.
A better system to get more tasks accomplished would be to: (1) make a plan of execution the day before or even the week before (2) divide the tasks into manageable portions of time (3) schedule the tasks on your calendar (4)focus solely on each of your tasks at hand, one at a time, giving them the full attention they each deserve (5) Take a break in between completed tasks to refresh and refill.
This system will allow you to successfully engage in and complete your “to-do” lists, and you will be surprised how much more efficient, effective, and accomplished you will become. And feeling accomplished will help you walk in confidence!
